Nitrous Rules! :
Well, with the extreme Super
running now seems like the perfect time in the project to tear down the engine.
Sigh… I knew from the start of this project that I wanted to include a Nitrous
Oxide system but I thought I could bolt it on with the engine installed, this is
not the case.
In order to install the NOS
Fogger nozzles I will need to remove the intake stacks and drill them to
accommodate the nozzles. I cannot get enough access in the engine compartment
to allow me to unbolt just the intake stacks so; I believe we will need to drop
the engine out of the car once again.
Dropping the engine in this car
is really no big deal. It consists of removing 3 bolts and 1 nut from an anchor
stud. Yep that’s why I love Bug’s super simple to work on.
I laid out a quick power point
slide for Steve, he will be custom bending all of our Nitrous lines.

I have assembled almost all of
the other NOS components that we need.

Almost all of our NOS parts came
from eBay. So far the complete system is about $170 which is cheaper than a
normal off the shelf kit. The only thing I opted not to buy used was the Fogger
nozzles.
Steve J. is custom bending all of
our lines and handling all the fittings as well as re-working the Nitrous bottle
that was given to us by Lee’s friend Billy (Hillbilly).
Steve’s plan with the bottle is
to sandblast it, prime it as well as re-PLASTIDIP the valve handle to match the
bottle’s new color “Big Bad Green” The bottle will be painted the same as the
exterior of the bug “Big Bad Green”, giving a nice evenly color matched look
across the whole car.
We will be writing an entire
tutorial on “How to inexpensively build a Nitrous System”
More updates to come on the NOS
system.
